AS PART of the children's day celebration, Star Majha, a Marathi News channel from MCCS, had launched a "Junior Anchor Hunt" talent contest.
The hunt began on November 4, through a television campaign which resulted in a huge response from children across
Maharashtra on the audition day. The audition venue was inundated with children in a festival like atmosphere with excited children, eager to be in front of the camera.
The
anchor hunt is being held for three age groups – six to eight years, eight to ten years and ten to twelve years. Twenty children were shortlisted, based on their wit, humour, voice and confidence levels from which nine finalists will be selected to finally co-host shows on the channel on Children's day.
Shefali Banerjee, producer at
Star Majha says, "Children have a different perspective on life and the stories related to them. It will create a great impact on the viewers if children produce their own bulletin on children's day. Hence we thought of carrying out a contest to look for talented children not only to anchor but also produce the bulletins on November 14."
Nilesh Thakkar, Channel head, says, "This talent hunt generated a huge buzz on the ground and we saw tremendous footfalls during the auditions." The auditions were refreshing with kids coming up with their own child like versions, imaginations in describing events, scenarios and their perspective on news.
