Star Sports Pro Kabaddi League: Patna Pirates stun Pink Panthers by beating them 29-28
Patna Pirates started their PKL season 3 campaign with a sensational win against former champions Jaipur Pink Panthers 29-28 at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Vizag on Monday. The win for the pirates came after a decisive last raid.

In the Star Sports Pro Kabaddi League match 5, debutant Sunil managed to block Jasvir, the best player for the Panthers, who had managed 11 points with his raids. This win has come like a shot in the arm for the Pirates who had finished at the fourth position last season.

Overall the win for the Pirates was fine, but their new captain and former Asian Games gold medalist, Manpreet Singh, failed to make an impact. The other three newly acquired players namely Rohit Kumar, Sunil Jaglan and Pradeep Narwal contributed immensely towards their team's win.

For Jaipur, the match became difficult after they lost Sonu Narwal early, which shifted the entire burden of the attack on Jasvir's shoulders. Jaipur Pink Panthers remained in the fray through the entire match, only losing it in the end.

Pradeep Narwal conducted two super raids in the second half to tilt the balance in favour of the Pirates.

Rohit and Manpreet were culprits of venturing into the opponent territory for conducting do-or-die raids which could have cost the team the match, but since there were only three defenders in the rival court, the Pirates were left off by only conceding four points to the Panthers.

Pirates will have to keep a check on their misadventures, as the Panthers came as close as 26-28, due to them losing 4 points for that.
