State govt schools in Ajmer to become smart schools
The Government of Rajasthan has decided to convert 41 government schools of Ajmer city into smart schools with WiFi connectivity and digital attendance. Also, schools will have smart boards and their own websites.

The project was inaugurated by the Rajasthan CM, Vasundhara Raje during her visit to the city in August and by October the schools will become digitally functional, it is learned. Government School at Topdara will work as the resource centre for the project. The project envisages to put government schools of Ajmer City at par with the private schools most of which now have smart classrooms.

"It has been seen that the government sector projects of improving education get limited to creating infrastructures and centralised purchases of equipment, hardware and instillation along with storage and supply. Proper teacher training and development of relevant software and requisite classroom processes hardly get into place. Systemic hick ups are another cause of under performance of the education reform projects in the government sector," said Jaipur-based educator Prabha Kishore while reacting to the project.

There is no doubt that teachers are central to any education reform and their ownership of the reform and preparation along with a robust support system are preconditions for the success of the reform. It has been seen that this aspect lacks in the government sector.

I feel that projects mus pass through experimental, verification and institutional phases for their success.
