Stereonoid dreams big after winning 'band of the year' contest in Gurgaon
After winning a rock band competition, ''Band of the Year'' in Kingdom of Dreams in Gurgaon, a rock band has been motivated to produce better music. The competition witnessed 12 english bands fighting it out for the coveted title, which was held a fortnight ago. Apart from winning the cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, a music channel in and voucher worth Rs 3.5 lakhs from Jhumroo.

They may not be a well known band in India, but this victory would surely help them find a place in the ever increasing competitive english music industry. ''After the victory, we have got some projects, which we would like to keep it confidential, as of now,'' said Sohail Khan, lead guitarist of the band.

''The competition was a good one, where other competitors were also equally good,'' said Naman, the vocalist for the band. It was not only the crowd, who appreciated them for their performance, but also band members from other bands, who felt that they 'deserved' the title. They were impressed with Gurgaon's crowd also.

Sohail said, ''The crowd during the competition were educated and appreciative.'' They are looking forward to their future programs in Gurgaon with equal enthusiasm, especially in Kingdom of Dreams, where they won their biggest competition till date.

There are five members in the band – Naman (vocalist), Neel (drummer), Sumit (rhythm guitarist), Pramod (Bassist) and Sohail (lead guitarist). Three of them are from Delhi, who are all students, while the other two are from Faridabad, working professionals. It is their passion for music, which has held them together for the last two and half years. ''The band primarily plays crunch, hard rock and alternative rock. Crunch music can be traced back to the 80s with Nirvana being the best example of this genre,'' said Sohail Khan.

After having performed in many band competitions, they have set their bar high, after the recent triumph. Their confidence level has reached a notch higher after their performance in Kingdom of Dreams. Naman said, ''We are all motivated with that result. We want to share the stage with good musicians in the future.''
