Steven Spielberg's next venture to be shot in Kashmir
These are exciting times to be in the Indian film industry as it is making new headways into Hollywood. Steven Spielberg, the director of the recently Academy nominated 'Lincoln' wants to make a film with Bollywood and Hollywood stars together, which would be set at the de-facto border between India- Pakistan in Kashmir. The project is in nascent stage but India cannot be more excited as the legendary film maker is on a visit to the country, meeting the film fraternity.
The director, producer Spielberg, who is known for visionary films, came up with the idea of his next venture after he stumbled upon an envelope containing some pictures taken by his technical sergeant father, according to The Times of India. His father, who served as a technical sergeant with the 490th Bombardment Squadron, was stationed in Karachi during the World
War II. While vacationing, he used to come to Bombay and Calcutta, capturing the essence of his vacations with a camera. Two years ago, Spielberg chanced upon the envelope with the negatives of these pictures and developed them to see the vivid colours of the country.
The film would be made by DreamWorks and Reliance Entertainment. Although the script is finalized, the locations and casting are yet to be made. Spielberg is considering Aamir Khan
, Shahrukh Khan
and Hrithik Roshan for the male lead while Anushka Sharma, Aishwarya Rai
and Deepika Padukone are being considered for the female lead. From the Hollywood side, Denzel Washington, Bradley Cooper and Richard Gere are being considered. It would be a phenomenal film, given the power packed casting and the director of the project.
In his own words, until and unless he is not absolutely convinced about a film, Spielberg normally does not direct. In his long career, he has directed just 29 films and all of them are masterpieces. Thus assuming that everything will work for the best. While in India, Spielberg is making a lot of waves with his visits. Anil Ambani is to throw a party for the director where he is supposed to meet with Aamir, SRK, Karan Johar and Farhan Akhtar. He also met with 60 film makers at an event, which was moderated by Amitabh Bachchan on Monday afternoon.
