In a new study a relation between stomach cancer and alcohol has been seen. Although no concrete proof has been found yet, doctors are asking people to control their urge to drink to stay healthy.
THESE DAYS drinking alcohol has become more of a lifestyle choice than any other thing. Starting from a tender age and walking on the footsteps of many stars like Amy Winehouse, many become alcoholic much before than they know. There is also a heavy relation between a drink and a crime. According to the World Health Organisation around 2.5 million people die every year due to alcohol. However, in a latest study it has been found that a person, who is taking four pegs of alcohol, is heavily risking their body to have stomach cancer. Stomach cancer is relatively unknown for heavy drinkers, especially in the US. Liver damage and mouth cancer are two common repercussions of alcohol abuse. The study was conducted under by Dr. Eric J. Duell of the Catalan Institute of Oncology in Barcelona, Spain. They observed that a similar kind of connection was not present in women. The study also saw that there were far fewer heavy drinkers among the female participants in the study, which were just under 2,300.

In western countries alcohol intake is a way of life as they cannot escape it due to extreme weather. However, in a latest study on Europeans, it has been suggested that as many as 500,000 European adults might have subjected their body to stomach cancer due to heavy drinking. The study also states that men drinking heavily are more prone to the risk. As reported in zeenews.com, around 10,000-plus men said they averaged more than four drinks per day. The researchers also saw that people who consumed beer more than wine or whiskey are prone to stomach risks. According to the American Cancer Society, around 21,500 Americans will be diagnosed with stomach cancer this year. The study that was published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition did not conclude as to a direct link between stomach cancer and alcohol intake but the doctors are asking people to take the swig in moderation as precaution is always better than cure.
