Stop killings in the name of honour
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) estimates that perhaps as many as 5,000 women and girls are murdered every year by members of their own families.
RECENTLY, CBI has closed the case of Arushi Talwar. Although nothing has been proved it is still under suspicion that it was a form of honour killing. Customary killings are where a member of family or social group of other members, due to the belief that the victim has brought dishonour upon the family or community. Generally these types of crimes are done mostly against women and girls.

According to Wikipedia, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) estimates that perhaps as many as 5,000 women and girls a year are murdered by members of their own families. Many women's groups in the Middle East and Southwest Asia suspect the victims are at least four times more.

The dishonour of the family is normally the consequence of disapproval of the community specially related to dressing, sex, pregnancy, pre and extra-marital relations or having relations with someone not from the community or caste. Some times for engaging in homosexual acts women and girls are killed at a much higher rate than men.

Recently, a case was reported in Pakistan, where a 32-year-old, mother of three children and her relative were gunned down in the name of honour in her home at a colony in the limits of Korangi police station.

Police said the incident occurred at the house where the culprit shot his sister-in-law Rohi Bano and relative Sanaullah dead over suspicion of illicit relations. In another case in the same country,  a 35-year-old woman was inhumanely subjected to dog-biting torture in the city under similar allegations.

According to details, a resident of Sukkur taluka of Salah Patt alleged that his brothers and father subjected his wife to physical torture including dog-bites on charges of adultery.

Not a single state in India is free from such killings, whether it is Haryana or Rajasthan or Bihar or NCR/ Delhi. Due to support of community, culprits are encouraged to commit such inhuman acts of murdering their daughters, wives and other ladies who are innocent and being raped by their brothers and relatives. Powerful and influential people are not easily caught by authorities. Sometimes poor people for sake of money admit to the crime, which has been not committed by them. There is great need of social reconstruction where such crimes should be well defined to save the women folk of the society.
