Stop unnecessary harassment of ultrasound owners; catch real culprits: Gurgaon Doctors
Recently Health Department authorities had hit the media headlines for launching crusade against practice of illegal determination of sex of fetus. This leads to killing of the fetus in womb, resulting into launching of criminal cases against about fifty six doctors and owners of ultrasound centers.
These people were accused of violating the provisions of PNDT and MTP Act. This had led to panic among doctor community and owners' of ultrasound centers and they sent SMS to the Government officials requesting that entire profession should not be dubbed as culprits and provisions of P.N.D.T and M.T.P test should not be misused to harass the registered medical practitioners.

At a joint convention of Haryana Ultrasound Owners' Association, Gurgaon chapter of the Indian Radiological and Imaging Association and Five Eyes Ultra Secure Foundation, which was held at Gurgaon, everybody took pledge that they will not indulge in prenatal sex determination or female foeticide and help the authorities in catching the real culprits. They asked appropriate authorities of the state to launch a well organised campaign against unauthorized people conducting sex determination at unregistered places using unregistered portable machines and even delivering such services at the doorstep of willing young couples.

They further demanded that harassment of 'Registered Medical Practitioners under the PNDT and MTP Act by authorities be stopped. Dr, Pankaj Vats, Chairman-cum-Executive Director of Five Eyes Ultra Secure Foundation told in length as to how cases have been registered of minor discrepancies in filling of F forms.Dr IS Yadav, State President, Dr Urmil Yadav, General-Secretary and, Dr. Shiv Rattan Yadav Rewari District President of Haryana Ultrasound Owners' Association urged the Govt. and all state and district authorities to stop unnecessary harassment of doctors. They also urged that the form F should be made simpler and the same should not be the sole criteria to defame the whole medical fraternity and to prosecute doctors arbitrarily.

Dr. Rajesh Goyal, Secretary of the Association demanded that workshops and seminars should be organized in every district by appropriate authorities to educate all stake holders and update the doctors with recent amendments. It should not be one way affair, rather the opportunity should be used to involve all stake holders, take their feedback, suggestions and day to day problems should be addressed and a common code and strategies should be developed to check the declining sex ratio.

Dr. Shiv Rattan, President of Rewari unit and all the members took pledge not to indulge in prenatal sex determination or female foeticide. Dr. Nidhi Bhatnagar, Secretary of Executive Committee of Delhi Unit of IRIA said that instead of indulging in blame game they should find the solution adding that they have to follow the law of the land in filling of the F form. She said that when a lady, bleeding heavily, comes in a medical facility, it is the right of radiologist to do ultrasound and give diagnose. Stressing upon the change of mindset of society towards girls she said that South Korea has succeeded in improving sex ratio by bringing economic reforms and empowering women economically.

On this occasion, the Chief Guest of State Level seminar Dr. Sushil Indora, former Member Parliament from Sirsa Parliamentary Constituency decayed that he will convey their feelings to the Govt. He assured the gathering that he will continue to participate in such seminars and workshops and will take up the matter with all the law makers including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, if it is needed and asked for by these three associations.

Dr. Ravi Dawra, Vice Chairman and Director of Five Eyes Ultra Secure Foundation, said that the foundation is providing expert's consultations, opinion and professional services for Internal medical audit and surprise mock inspections by Former District Appropriate Authority-cum-Civil Surgeons and their team of Gynecologist, Physician, Surgeon, Cardiologist, Neurosurgeon, Medical geneticist.
