Strauss wants to achieve No 1 Test ranking
The skipper of the English side, Andrew Strauss, wants to be the best Test playing nation in the side by defeating India in the upcoming series. The second Test match is scheduled to be played on July 29 at Trent Bridge between England and India.

AFTER THE Indian team lost to England at Lord’s, the English players are confident of a series win. The English Skipper, Andrew Strauss believes that the team can dethrone the Indian side from its World number 1 status, which they have achieved by playing consistent cricket for some years now. The second Test match between these two counties would be played on July 29 at Trent Bridge.

The Indian side were outplayed in all the departments of the game in the first Test match. Strauss has even said that if they play well, they can be a match for any team in international cricket. He was also pleased with the performances of Kevin Pietersen, Stuart Broad and James Anderson, who played a major hand in winning the Test match.

The Indians are worried with the injury that Zaheer Khan faced in the first Test match in Lord’s. He is the spearhead of the Indian bowling line up. Indian looks up to him for making initial breakthroughs and take important wickets during the match. But, he may not be able to play in the upcoming Test match due to the hamstring injury. He might be replaced by Sreesanth, who may lack consistency. But, on his day, he could prove handful for the English batsmen as he can swing the ball both ways.

With the England team in buoyant mood ahead of the second Test match, the match is expected to be an interesting one, as India would be looking to level the series in Trent Bridge. The Indians need to play well if they are to defeat the confident looking English side.
