Anand Kirshani was the working President of peace committee formed last year against Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangha, (CMAS) Narayanpatna who were agitating to restore their paternal lands and preventing the manufacturing, selling and consumption of liquor in Koraput district.Normal life was completely paralysed through out the day. Transport services were also seriously paralysed and the district collectorate, Block level offices, schools, colleges and Government offices remains closed.
Shops, tea stalls, hotels also downed their shutters. However medical stores, milk booths, hospitals and private clinics remained opened. The shops of country and Indian made foreign liquor were also closed but some consumers purchases the liquor on the sly. People passing through Koraput in buses and trains had to suffer as most of the eateries were closed. Locals allege that the police reached the spot, where Kirshani was killed twenty four hours after the incident place, whereas it is just six kilometres away.
