Around 1,200 resident doctors were on strike since Saturday (September 4) protesting against the lathi-charge by police on medicos in Jodhpur. Medical services were completely paralysed due to the strike and most chemists too kept their shops closed during the strike period.
The medicos were demanding action against police officials, who had ordered lathicharge on them and were responsible for mishandling the situation. The doctors in Jodhpur got support from medical fraternity all across the state and consequently the situation became serious as health services were badly affected. The resumption of work by the doctors has been welcomed by the patients and as well as civil society.
