For everyone who is far removed from the going-ons in the world of literature - Sudeep Sen has become the first Indian and Asian poet from India to be invited to address the Nobel Laureate Week being held in St Lucia.
Sudeep Sen, who himself is an eminent name in the
world of poetry would be present in St Lucia to deliver the prestigious Derek Walcott Lecture as well as read from his own creative work.
St Lucia has more Nobel laureates than any other place in the world and to celebrate this fact, every year on the month of January a celebration is held for all the Nobel laureates of the country. This year, January 23, which is also the birthday of both Derek Walcott and Arthur Lewis (Nobel laureates) is the day when the celebration is starting.
Sudeep Sen is one of the younger writers to have been handpicked to attend the gala. It is a great honour for the poet, who is himself known for his contribution to the world of poem, to be part of such a prestigious event. The event would have lectures, panel discussions, plays, poetry, drama and music. The week attracts visitors from all over the Caribbean, and often entices luminaries from the world of literature.
