Officials further said that due to timely detection of the suicide bomber a major tragedy had been averted. They said that had the suicide bomber been able to reach a busy area or near a security establishment, it could have fatal consequences.
A SUSPECTED suicide bomber was shot dead after he failed to stop at a police checkpoint in the Janikhel area of Lakki Marwat district in Northwest Pakistan. Police said the explosive-laden jeep was driven by a teenage boy, who was shot when he refused to stop at the police check point.
Sources said the driver of the Toyota Surf jeep tried to change direction and speed away but was not able to do so as police officials challenged him. As the police shot the driver, the vehicle blew up causing a massive blast, which damaged three nearby houses, a shop and injured three people. Last month, 15 people were killed when a suicide bomber attacked the police station in Lakki.
Officials further said that due to timely detection of the suicide bomber a major tragedy had been averted. They said that had the suicide bomber been able to reach a busy area or near a security establishment, than it could have had dangerous fallout. Meanwhile, security has been beefed up and checkpoints all across the district have been alerted to ensure that radical terrorists are not able to infiltrate with explosives and weapons. It is pertinent to mention that terrorists have declared a war against the government for supporting the US troops in Afghanistan as well their actions across the border in Pakistan.
