South India's leading industrial conglomerate, Sujana Group commemorated its Silver Jubilee on Sunday, September 16 with great extravanagnza and fanfare. The event took place at Sri Satya Sai Nigamagamam, Sri Nagar Colony, Hyderabad.

AT THE onset, let me share with readers a famous adage from Willaim Shakespeare: “Some men are born great, some become great, some have the greatness thrust upon them.” Why am I beginning my article with this adage do you know? Because, the man who laid the foundation of Sujana Group is a charismatic man, he falls in the second category of the adage. He is an inspiration for budding entrepreneurs. From modest beginning with a Fan company twenty five years back, he now heads a diversified group.

Leading Scientist, MS Swaminathan, former chief minister of A.P., Chandrababu Naidu, and academician and child rights activist, Shanata Sinha graced the occasion. Sujana group founder, YS Chaudhury presided over the function.

The highlight of the silver jubilee was award ceremony to felicitate distinguished personalities with Sujana Excellence Award for their rich contribution in the field of Agriculture, Education/ Literacy, Entrepreneurship, Social Impact – Poverty alleviation & Rural Development and Innovation in engineering.

G. Nagaratnam Naidu for Agriculture, Fredric Fernando for Education/ Literacy, RLEK, an NGO from Uttarakhand for Social Impact – Poverty alleviation & Rural Development, SHARE, an NGO from Chennai for Entrepreneurship and Amrit Patel for Innovation and Engineering were honoured for their rich contribution. The awardees were given a cheque of Rs One lakh, a memento, citation and a certificate.

G. Nagaratnam Naidu, who was honoured in the agriculture category, has been doing organic farming since the last eight years. “It doesn’t harm environment. Produce is nutritious. I am cultivating rice, pulse, gram, vegetables and ornament flowers’ among others,” said Naidu, when asked about the organic farming. “Another advantage of the organic farming is that it requires less water and is good for health, there is no side effect,” he added.

Addressing the audience, founder and chairman of the group, Chaudhury paid rich tributes to employees of the group for their contribution, he gave emphasis on we. On the future goal of the organization, Chaudhury said: “We want to exapand, venture into new projects and till we reach golden jubilee, we should be able to generate employment for one lakh people.”

Former chief minister, Naidu while delivering key note address said: “Government should implement Swaminathan Commision’s Recommendation for farmining sector at the earliest.” He also focused on the importance of the report and farmers’ issues.

Earlier Vaishnavi and her group set the stage on fire with their mesmerizing dance. Every move, step was well synchronized, grace was amazing.

Our nation desperately need entrepreneurs like Chaudhury, who can create job for unemployed youths and inturn play a role in the socio-economic develpement of the nation.
