Sukhbir Badal is Crorepati candidate of Punjab
Sukhbir Badal is richest among the candidates contesting Punjab elections. He has gone richer by Rs 17.77 crore in the past two years as his assets were worth Rs 58.67 crore during 2010 by-elections.

AS PER affidavit filed by the Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab Sukhbir Badal, his assets were nearly Rs 64.05 crore which he declared during the Jalalabad by-election in 2009, and over Rs 19 crore in 2004 Lok Sabha polls.

 

As declared by Sukhbir, he owned movable assets worth Rs 27.58 crore, and immovable worth Rs 63.79 crore. He, however, also has loan dues to the tune of Rs 28 crore and Rs3.28 crore of income tax to be paid to the Government. Sukhbir also owned jewellery worth Rs 7.25 lakh and agriculture land worth Rs 17.59 lakh. Filing his nomination papers as SAD candidate from the Jalalabad Assembly seat, along with his wife and Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Sukhbir said development would be his party’s main plank in the State Assembly poll on January 30.

 

While filing his nomination in the office of Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Rajiv Gupta, he was also accompanied by MP Sher Singh Ghubhaya, and his wife Krishna Rani-who also filed her papers as covering candidate of SAD-BJP alliance for Sukhbir. Sukhbir was also earlier booked by the police at Kotakpura in Faridkot district, under Section 392 and 327 of the Indian Penal Code which pertains to causing hurt and robbery.

 

As per his property details, Sukhbir owned residential properties amounting Rs26.78 crore, including the one in Chandigarh’s Sector-9 (House no. 256), 302 kanal 13 Marla “inherited” residential house in Badal village in Lambi, 268 kanal in Balasar (Sirsa). Besides, he also owned 29 kanal in Rania (Sirsa) 31 kanal in Lohgarh, six hectares in Chakla village in Rajasthan, among others.Sukhbir also owns commercial property with Rs2.82 lakhs including Minerva Complex in Ludhiana, and a shop-cum-office in Sector-9. In addition, he also has shares in various companies including acuity shares worth Rs14 crores in Orbit resorts, Rs4 crore in Dabwali transport, among others.

 

After filing nomination papers, Sukhbir said the SAD-BJP alliance would fight the election focusing on development and there would be no personal attacks during the campaign. He hoped that masses would vote for the SAD-BJP alliance for further development in the State.SAD (B) chief claimed the Congress was facing rebellion in more than 38 seats. “This has given birth to a fifth front - Azad Congress - in addition to SAD-BJP, Congress, Sanjha Morcha and BSP,” he added.
