Sunanda Pushkar grabs attention after Modi's remark

Sunanda Pushkar the wife of Minister of States HRD, Shashi Tharoor has caught the attention of people and the media after a controversial statement by Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister of Gujrat. Modi had made a scathing attack on Shashi Tharoor, calling his wife a '50 crore rupees girlfriend'.

SUNANDA PUSHKAR whose childhood name is Sunanda Dass, is a businesswoman and wife of former Union Minister and present Minister of States HRD, Shashi Tharoor. She belongs to a family of landlords and her father, Poshkar Nath Dass is a retired Army officer from Bomai, near Kashmir Valley. Sunanda is a graduate of Government College for Women, Srinagar, and she has two brothers, and one is a bank employee, and other one is in the Army.

Sunanda also worked as a Sales Director in a Dubai-based company called 'Tecom'. Sunanda's first husband was Sanjay Raina a Kashmiri, with whom she divorced for some personal reasons. Again, she married to a Kerala businessman Sujith Menon, who died in a road accident in 1997, she also had a child with this relation. And in 2010 she again married Sashi Tharoor, which was her third marriage.

Earlier in 2010, Sunanda was in the news with the raging Indian Premier League (IPL) Kochi controversy. She was dragged into the issue when Narendra Modi uncovered the names of the owners of the syndicates. At that time Sunanda was just romantically linked with Tharoor, and she accused the media on concentrating on her personal life.

Now, she has again caught the attention of the media because of the controversial comment passed by Narendra Modi. Her husband Sashi Tharoor slammed back on Modi saying that the BJP leader should learn to respect ladies before dreaming to become the Prime Minister of India. He also said that her wife is 'priceless' and worth a lot more than Rs. 50 crores. Tharoor replied on the micro-blogging site Twitter that “you need2be able2love some1 2understand that,” reported Indiatvnews.
