Super Bowl, game time for players and gain time for ads
During a super bowl game, apart from the match, it is the commercials that are considered to be a very important part of the mega spectacle. This time around, companies had to pay around USD3.5 million for a 30-second commercial spot.

WHEN THE two teams, New York Giants and New England Patriots, walked into the field to play during the Super Bowl XLVI last Sunday, it is not only the game that got immediate attention. Various innovative commercials drew immediate attention. It is during this mega spectacle that companies invest huge loads of money for their advertisements. This time, the television commercials costs were around USD3.5 million for a 30 second spot, reported ESPN.

Big brands do not mind spending huge amount of money for their commercials, as basically a Super Bowl game witnesses around 100 million plus viewers. Hence, their advertisements also get the maximum chance to be seen by other people. Companies make this ad for various purposes, some may make it for awareness, some for sales and some of the brands just want their ad to go viral, which would immediately mean a large number of eyeballs across the world.

Hence, brands try to come up with innovative ideas so as to make their commercials more witty, funny and attractive. They want to catch the audience with the ads' creativity and humour. So undoubtedly, it is also going to be one of their best commercials that they will produce thus making it expensive. All these things were at display when different commercials hit the screen to entertain viewers.

The popularity of the commercials of Super Bowl can be summarised from the fact that USA Today has a super bowl ad meter, which helps in finding out the most popular commercials according to viewer voting, reported Forbes. Bud Light’s beer beer-fetching rescue dog and Doritos’ fan-made commercials have taken YouTube by storm, with a large number of hits. But it is the Chevrolet ad that may be the runaway winner for the 2012 commercials, reported Forbes. There were various other commercials that were equally engaging.

Advertisers had roped in some famous celebrities so as make them the main character in their commercials. Adriana Lima was seen in a Kia commercial, David Beckham for H&M body wear, and Elton John for the Pepsi. Some major companies that had put in great effort to produce their ads were Samsung Mobile USA, Volkswagen, Bridgestone, and Kia Optima.
