Many people view this match as a revenge match for the Patriots, who had lost against the same team, Giants, when they faced off in the Super Bowl match XLII on February 3, 2008 at Arizona. Though the match was closely fought, the score line finished 17-14. New York Giants were wearing their white uniforms, when they won their match against Patriots and they have decided to wear the same coloured uniforms, when they take on Patriots on February 5 also.

The Washington Post has reported that Patriots are considered favourite to turn out victorious, as they have a good record of 13-3 during the regular season. But one cannot count out the Giants, whose route to Indianapolis has seen them beating the two top seeds of the National Football Conference, which is not an easy task.
