Super Bowl XLVII serves a dish for every American
Super Bowl, one of the most awaited sporting events in the American sporting calendar, is set to be played at Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans on February 3, 2013. The game is played between the champion sides of the American Football Conference and National Football Conference, which happen to be Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers respectively for this year's edition of Super Bowl. 49ers have so far won five championships while Baltimore Ravens have won only one.
The Super Bowl has almost become an unofficial national holiday in the US. It has gradually become an important part of American culture with TV audiences waiting for the event to take place. Without a shadow of doubt, the quality of the game at the offing is going to be top notch. But, spectators who will pour into the stadium on that day would not only look forward to the contest between the two champions sides but also various forms of entertainment. It is this entertainment, which also brings non-sport lovers to the stadium as it is a major spectacle in the US. Around 120,000 to 150,000 people are expected to attend the mega event.
Spectators do not have any time to relax, as they would be kept busy with full on entertainment. It creates a party like atmosphere. Especially, during the half time, no one would even move an inch from their seats as they would love to see Beyonce perform live. Justin Timberlake
is even expected to perform during the concert.
Alicia Keys is also expected to be present in the stadium who would be given the responsibility of singing the national anthem. It would be a proud moment for Keys as well to sing the national anthem in front of a jam packed stadium. She is expected to enthrall the crowd to an amazing national anthem in a style, which they have never heard before.
Almost 1/3 of the US residents watch the event, making it one of the most watched events in the US. Hence, the Super Bowl commercials are considered to be one of the most expensive ones in American sport. As a result, the cost for a 30 second ad has gone up to USD 4million. As usual the organisers expect to garner huge money and this time around they expect USD 434 million approximately. The average price for a single ticket is around USD 3000 for a single person/seat. Irrespective of the high prices, these tickets are going to be sold as the super bowl only happens once a year and people don't mind shelling out huge bucks to be a part of the event.
