Much to the relief of a section of officials from the Supreme Court to law officers and public authority, the recent Supreme Court verdict on appointment of Information Commissioners has literally signed a death-warrant for the RTI Act.
AT LEAST, I as a single-man army using RTI Act as an extremely tiring task of regularly filing and handling of RTI petitions like a human-machine, am much relieved because implementation of Supreme Court verdict will practically and effectively find approaching Central Information Commission totally impractical. Admittedly my passion to use RTI Act in larger national and public is not mandatory.
But unfortunately my passion is like famous episodes of ‘Vikram and Betal’ where I cannot remain a mute spectator to irregularities and scams in system in presence of an effective tool available in the present form of RTI Act, but it is going to be practically eliminated ‘prospectively’ after Supreme Court verdict is implemented.
However referred Supreme Court does create a thought for discussion for bringing even judicial side of judicial system under purview of RTI Act.
