Pakistan's Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani after spending the longest term in the history of the country as Prime Minister has been told to vacate the Prime Minister's office with immediate effect by the Supreme Court.
YOUSUF RAZA Gilani today was disqualified by the Supreme Court of Pakistan from the position of Prime Minister for contempt of court. Gilani was convicted by the SC on 26th April this year when he refused to ask Swiss authorities to re-open the corruption cases against the President Asif Ali Zardari.
Yousuf argued that Zardari has constitutional immunity but as per SC of Pakistan anyone who was convicted of defaming or ridiculing the judiciary is barred from being an Member of Parliament. He is also disqualified as the member of the National Assembly.
Right now Pakistan People Party is conducting a meeting to decide the name of the next PM of the country as Supreme Court instructed them to decide it by today evening. Now, the crucial question is who will be willing to come in place of Gilani - as even for the newcomer the problem and the challenge will be the same - to take such action against the President.
