Supreme Court judge terms marriage of daughters as liability
The only woman judge at Supreme Court listed her two unmarried daughters on the liability side of details of her assets and wealth put on the court's website.
JUSTICE GYAN Sudha Mishra deserves all "compliments" for her hitting hard at Indian society and proving that being at one of the highest positions in judiciary will not change our orthodox ideals. The only woman judge at Supreme Court listed the marriage of her two daughters on the liability side of details of her assets and wealth put on the court’s website.

Unmarried daughters are indeed a practical liability for most Indian families because of huge marriage expenses needed in present male-dominated Indian society, leave apart some ultra-rich families, who leave no stone unturned in ugly and vulgar display of their enormous wealth in marriages. It is an irony on the system that even many political rulers like Union Minister Praful Patel, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and BJP President Nitin Gadkari joined the  race in setting a bad example through mega-budgeted marriages.

It is time that Union government should take measures to ensure marriages are held in simple manner so that birth of a girl may be taken as boon rather than bane. India should follow Pakistan by allowing only soft drinks and beverages in marriage-related functions.

Political consensus should be developed so that welcome initiative of Shiela Dixit may be nationally adopted to compel elected representatives to boycott mega-budgeted functions. Apart from declaring assets and wealth, senior bureaucrats, legislators (including Parliamentarians and ministers) and Judges should also put their one-time personal expenses exceeding say rupees fifty thousand on websites of their respective authorities.

As a sitting woman judge of the Apex Court, Hon. Justice Smt. Gyan Sudha Mishra should not have resorted to the gimmick of placing her two daughters as her'liabilities' in the website which is unbecoming and not expected from a woman of her stature and eminence. This kind of adverse publicity may affect the morale and psyche of her daughters also. Smt. Mishra belongs to Brahmin community where exorbitant dowry system is not prevalent unlike business community like Agarwals .Being a Supreme Court Judge, she would have definitely provided them good education, strong will power and determination to resist the dowry demands. Marriage in their case is certainly not a problem and several handsome young men befitting her high status would be at her door step wooing her daughters with marriage proposals.
It is not possible till 1)the polticians who join hands irrespictive of party to which they belong in hiking their pay&perks only exist 2)The above mentioned mater only will be of consensus amongst our rulers for other issues they differ
