IN A shocking incident, a suspended police sub-inspector hurled a shoe on Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah to express his resentment and to register a protest against the ongoing violence in Kashmir valley.
The incident occurred when Omar Abdullah was just about to take the salute after unfurling the tricolour when Abdul Ahad Jan, the police head constable in civil (Plain) dress flung a shoe at the CM. The police official, who is said to be under suspension reportedly started protesting against the CM as he made his way to address the parade, waved a black flag and eventually hurled the shoe. Though the shoe missed Omar by a narrow margin, the shoe thrower was immediately arrested. The Independence Day celebrations were held at the historic Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar. Omar reacted to the development, saying "throw shoes, but not stones".Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir police has suspended 15 policemen including few officials, for dereliction of duty. It is being said that the police sub-inspector had used the official pass of a politician to enter the highly secured venue.
