Suspended RJD MLA Raj Ballabh Yadav meets Lalu Prasad, says no grudge against state govt
Bihar government on Wednesday challenged the bail granted to suspended RJD MLA Raj Ballabh Yadav in the Supreme Court. Yadav was given bail by the Patna High Court in the rape case of a minor girl.
Appearing for Bihar government, counsel Gopal Singh argued that Patna High Court has erred in granting bail to Yadav. A bench headed by justices A R Dave and L Nageswara Rao agreed to hear the case on an immediate basis and will be now hearing the case on Friday.

Yadav is accused of allegedly raping a minor girl at his residence in Biharsharif on February 6, this year. Along with Yadav, a woman and her relatives have also been listed as accused by the Bihar Police. They have been accused of supplying women and girls to Yadav.

The bail provided to Yadav, who was suspended from the party a day after his arrest warrant was issued, had led to an uproar in the state with opposition parties accusing the Nitish government of facilitating the relief to him.

The rape survivor has written a message that she hopes will reach Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. She has pleaded that the bail given to Yadav has left her scared for her and her family's safety.

"He (Yadav) is out of jail. I am scared and afraid for my family. What will happen to them? I am already dead after what happened to me. I have nothing more to lose," the survivor wrote.

Yadav was arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSA) and his bail petitions were repeatedly rejected by a lower court. But the Patna High Court had granted him bail in just two months.

The opposition parties have accused Nitish Kumar's government of going soft on politicians associated with Lalu Prasad Yadav. Criminal turned politician Mohammad Shahabuddin was given bail by the Patna High Court last month, only to be again sent back by the Supreme Court.
