Switzerland honours veteran Bollywood filmmaker Yash Chopra with special statue
Veteran filmmaker Yash Chopra will always remain in the hearts of people through his eponymous work. Since he has always given preference to the breath taking locales of Switzerland for decades in his films, thus the Swiss government decided to honor the filmmaker with a special statue to express gratitude and salutations.

Weighing about 350kg, the sculpture is made of pure bronze and showcases Yash Chopra in an iconic pose. Chopra used to love spending time in Switzerland. In fact, he had encouraged South Asian tourists to visit the country through his films.

The ace director's statue is installed at the heart of Interlaken, that falls under Kursaal. It is a significant and popular tourists spot. The statue will remind people of all the cinematic splendor Yash Chopra had ever created by capturing this nation through his lens.

Several ministers and bureaucrats from the Swiss government along with Pamela Chopra and Rani Mukerji attended this inauguration, organised by Interlaken Tourism and Jungfrau Railways.

Well, you will be surprised to know that this isn't the first time the filmmaker has been honored. Earlier, the government of Interlaken had awarded him the honorary title of "Ambassador of Interlaken" in 2011.

Besides, Jungfrau Railways too named a train after him. This honour was so far bestowed to the railway's founder, Adolf Guyer only. Apart from that, the five-star Victoria Jungfrau Grand Hotel and Spa had named a suite after Yash Chopra, in Interlaken.
