T Series seeks injunction against Lehren.tv
Super Cassettes Industries have filed a law suit in Delhi High Court against Lehren TV for using T-Series songs and copyright works for programming without license. Infringement of copyright items could end creativity if not checked.
AFTER TAKING legal action against global internet giants, Super Cassettes Industries have moved the Delhi High Court against Lehren TV (Lehren Entertainment Pvt. Ltd ) who run and operate Lehren.tv, a web based entertainment site. A notice sent to Lehren.tv to stop using T-Series songs and copyright works for programming their contents. However, when lehren.tv did not take license and continued to use T-Series copyright works and infringed their copyright, T-Series was left with no option but to move the court.

On March 6, '09 the Delhi High Court on the suit filed by T-Series for permanent injunction and damages heard the arguments at length and issued notice to Lehren.tv and also granted an interim-injunction against restraining Lehren.tv from broadcasting and telecasting T Series contents in any manner.

Rahul Ajatshatru, Advocate representing T-Series in this case elaborated that this is yet another case where courts have recognized infringement of copyright on internet and it is a welcome legal position. "Unlicensed exploitation of work (infringement) is like termite and if not checked at all spheres including internet and new media will seriously threaten viability and sustainability of legitimate business and at the end creativity on the whole" he averts.

Divya Khosla Kumar, Creative Director, T Series said, "T-Series has always taken music to the the masses through various mediums, but it is important that music company also make some money as we invest a lot of money in procuring music. Hence, we come down strongly on pirates. Entertainment on internet and new media is an emergent field and will take some time to mature and people will take time to understand copyright implications and legalities. It is a challenge and we are all prepared and geared for it."
