T20 World Cup: West Indies emerge victorious
Though Chris Gayle failed in this match but Caribbean team still emerged victorious in the final match of T20 ICC World Cup. The last time West Indies won the World Cup (50-over format) was in 1979 when they dominated the game.

IT WAS match with a fair share of ups and downs, but better team always wins and this time it was West Indies who grabbed the T20 World Cup for the first time in history.

West Indies though scored just 137 runs for the loss of 6 wickets owing to the slow start; they were 14 for 2 in 5.5 overs but ultimately it was Samuels, the Man of the Match who played a glorious inning of 78 runs.

Sri Lanka started well with the captain, Mahela Jayawardene scoring 33 runs and at one stage they came very close to a win, particularly when Sri Lankans scored 21 runs in one over of Ravi Rampal.

It was the effortless bowling of youngster Sunil Narine who took 3 wickets, well supported by his captain and senior bowlers besides good fielding, West Indies finally won the ICC world T 20 match by 36 runs.

Darren Sammy, West Indies captain not only thanked the cricket lovers, but also made a point to thank Lord Jesus Christ and also wished the Caribbean players continued playing with the same spirit.

Angelo Mathews was declared Man of the Match while Shane Watson of Australia was declared the player of the tournament.
