Taj Mahal, five star hotels on Lashkar hitlist
Taj Mahal was on the list of potential targets of Lashkar-e-Toiba group, if intelligence sources are to be believed. Officials said that presence of foreigners in and around Taj Mahal made it a high profile target.

TAJ MAHAL, the eternal tribute to love was on the hit list of Lashkar-e-Taiba, the radical terror group responsible for a number of deadly attacks in India including the Mumbai carnage. This startling disclosure has been made by intelligence officials, who opined that American LeT operative David Coleman Headly had visited Agra, Lucknow, Delhi, Mumbai and Ahmedabad.

Investigations officials suspect that Headley had visited Agra to conduct a reconnaissance of Taj Mahal. It is being suspected that the presence of large number of foreigners around Taj Mahal was possibly the reason that LeT was planning to attack the ancient monument.

Intelligence sources said that Headly had visited different Indian cities to plan a major attack in the country. Setting up of sleeper cells to carry out attacks in future could be one of the reasons of Headley, sources said.

Taj Mahal and some five star hotels located in Agra were on the terror radar of terrorists, officials believe. Authorities are also probing his links with the Mumbai attacks which shook the country like never before.
