Take a trip to Shanghai this weekend
The film has the usual characters but with very clear distinctions. A true face of India, yet the film claims to be a fiction. One must visit Shanghai this weekend.

DIBAKAR BANERJEE has shown another side of his directorial genius with Shanghai and Emraan Hashmi seems to have graduated from the kisser boy of Bollywood to a serious eyeball grabbing actor with his role of Jogi, the pornstar director. Banerjee, who is known for his satirical outlook of social issues reflected in Khosla ka Ghosla and Oye Lucky Lucy Oye has taken a different approach with the political saga Shanghai.

According to the live tweets of Ibnlive.com, Shanghai is an entertaining political thriller with enough of twists and turns to keep the people at the edge of their seats. Characterization is a strong point of the film as with all the films of Banerjee. With this film he has shown activists who demand and get power and Proshenjit fits the role in T. Bharat Nagar, the name of the place where all the political drama happens. To emphasize the corrupt and dysfunctional Indian political and bureaucratic system what better name than Bharat, the other name for India.

Symbolic to the core, Emraan Hashmi plays a small time role that is driven with both money and good sense but it is the understated Abhay Deol who again takes the cake at the end. A part of the corrupt system, he is the true picture of a person in power, who is utterly powerless to do anything.

To give away any story of the movie would be a spoiler alert as the film is a journey one needs to take in its entirety and would understand the symbolism to its full extent. The Soundtrack of Vishal and Shekhar is in sync with the film and Emraan Hashmi is definitely getting the item number for his next film for his Bharat Mata Ki dance. Even imported Kamariya would not go unnoticed by the audience.

A must watch film in spite of being fictitious, one would find a lot of similarity of the film with our country. So this weekend take a trip to Shanghai and enjoy the thrills of the journey with Dibankar Banerjee.
