Take natural food and not supplements to prevent heart disease 25 February, 2012
One should take seasonal and locally grown natural food and vegetables grown out of organic farms. Eat less, and keep the dinner lighter then the lunch to prevent heart disease and not resort to nutrient pills.

IN TODAY'S lifestyle that people follow in cities and semi-urban areas, nutrition is being sacrificed for the sake of speed, convenience and taste. As a result, people don't sit down and consider what nutrients they should take on a daily basis. Instead they take food items that are easy to prepare and give energy. Also, fibre intake is also not oftne in their menu. Furthermore, volume of consumption in terms of fatty food and carbohydrates has gone up - leading to lifestyle diseases. So it's better to eat natural and in moderation. Food has a science and logic to it. One should try and consume food that's seasonal and grown locally say in organi farms.

Many folks aslo take pills to take care of the shortfall in vital vitamins - but this won't solve the problem. For example - having beta carotene and vitamin E - alone or in combination - or other antioxidant vitamins will not prevent heart disease if the basic diet is not correct. In fact, taking high dose of vitamin E (400 IU/day) could lead to increase in mortality. According to The American Heart Association lates research shows that use of antioxidant supplements for the prevention or treatment of cardiovascular disease risk is not justifiable.

Similarly, combining vitamin C with anti-oxidents will not prevent a second heart attack, and supplementation of Beta carotene supplementation could be dangerous, as per medical website emedinews. Therefore, all this points to the fact that natural food, eating in moderation and regular exercise are the best antidotes to disease.
