Taliban hotel siege in Kabul ends, at least twenty killed
In a night time assault by the Taliban on Spozhmai hotel in Kabul and counter attack by the elite Afghan police backed by Nato forces left at least 20 people dead on Friday night and early morning of Saturday. The responsibility of the carnage has been taken by the Afghan Taliban.

LACED WITH rocket-propelled grenades, machine guns and suicide vests, Afghan Taliban stormed into the hotel in Kabul. They fired at the hotel guests attending a party and took dozens of of them as hostages.

The guests at the hotel ran helter-skelter and a few of them jumped into the lake in the darkness to escape the bullets. It is said that about 300 people had been inside the hotel when the attack by Taliban began.

Reportedly, the Elite Afghan Police and Nato troops freed at least 35 hostages in a rescue operation at dawn today ending a 12-hour siege of the hotel. According the official claim, all five Taliban attackers have been killed during the rescue operation, reported Reuters.

President Hamid Karzai said that attacking people in a hotel by the Taliban was a sign of defeat for the enemies of Afghanistan.
