Sixty five Pakistan Militia men were manning a post in the disturbed tribal area of the AFPAK borders when Taliban attacked. Thereafter ony 15 militiamen reported back on duty. Rest were killed or kidnapped or joinedthe Taliban. God alone knows.
REPORTEDLY sixty five militia men were manning the post in the unsettled tribal areas on the AFPAK border. When the Pakistani Taliban, as distinct from the Afghan Taliban, attacked, it is not clear if the Militia Men engaged them in a close quarter battle. Apparently the Pakistan Militia has low morale and is reluctant to engage their kin the Taliban in a hand to hand fight.
When the will to fight is not there, the outcome of the engagement is a foregone conclusion. Were the Militiamen officered by the Regular Officers of the Army or just by Militia officers? The outcome of a battle is largely dependent on the leadership of the outfit. If the officers have low morale, the troops under their command will never put up a stiff resistance; what to say of annihilating the enemy.
WHO IS THE ENEMYAn average Pakistani soldier, not excluding officers, does not think that the Taliban terrorists are their enemies. After all it was the Pakistan Army that raised, trained and nourished the Taliban. How can they treat their own kith and kin as an enemy now? Psychologically, it is not possible. Therefore, the question of giving a bloody nose to your loved ones does not arise.General Ashfaq pervez Kayani, Chief of the Army Staff of the Pakistan Army is on record to say "Taliban are boothers of the Army. In case of a war with India, they will protect our flanks."With that mindset, what happened to the Militia Men in a fight against the Taliban should surprise no one.Whether the Pakistan Militiamen were killed or captured or deserted post to join the Taliban - no one can tell. God alone knows.
