Tamil Nadu to host national conference on "Teacher Education in India: Issues and Concerns in Quality Accreditation"
A two-day "National Conference on "Teacher Education in India: Issues and Concerns in Quality Accreditation" is to be held on 21st and 22nd March at the Department of Education University of Madras in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

Keeping in view of the question of privatization of teacher education and a large number of teacher education institutions mushrooming across the country, the concern for quality of teacher education is being questioned. The conference will discuss the challenge of sustenance of quality in teacher education and urgent need for the enforcing standards for assessment and accreditation of teacher education institution.

The conference will have six subthemes, namely, teacher education, inclusive education, innovative instructional strategies, evaluation and assessment, pedagogical excellence, educational policy and implantation.

Of late, the idea of inclusive education is also drawing a lot of attention. However, both the mainstream and special education institutions are clueless about how to begin it and make it successful. In the conference, the issues of inclusive education such as preparation of teachers;  teachers' roles in inclusive school; enabling skills for teachers; entrepreneur role of higher education institutions, and similar other issues will be discussed during the conference.

In the latest issue of newsletter of UNSECO-IIEP, the director of the institute in Paris, has shown concern that both the quality of teacher preparation and their effective management has gone down which require a reality check.
