Targeting migrants and frequent travelers Videocon Telecom launches 'Roam like home'
Telecom service provider Videocon Telecom, the telecom brand of the Indian conglomerate Videocon Group has launched 'Roam like Home' proposition for its prepaid customers in Punjab.

While using a mobile connection in home network, customers enjoy unlimited free incoming calls, and can avail various special tariff vouchers (STVs) and packs to reduce tariff of their outgoing Local/STD calls, and conventionally while roaming, customers cannot avail STV/pack benefits and are charged a standard tariff of 45p/min for incoming calls, and 80P/min for Local outgoing calls, and Rs 1.15/min for STD calls.

According to a release, Videocon Telecom's new 'Roam like Home' proposition, will allow customers to use their mobile connection the way they use it in their home network, i.e. free unlimited incoming calls and Local/STD outgoing calls at discounted tariff.

The telco's 'Roam like home' proposition comes in 2 special Roaming packs, one priced at Rs 42 and at Rs 68, with 4 and 8 weeks validity resp. By recharging with these STVs, the telco's customers will be able enjoy free incoming calls while roaming and make outgoing local and STD calls at a discounted rate of 39p/min only, which is a discount of 66 per cent on STD calls and 51 per cent on local calls on standard tariff of Rs 1.15 and 80p resp. 

The packs have been designed considering the need of migrant population and frequent travelers. 

Arvind Bali, CEO and Director Videocon Telecom said in a statement, "We have a significant migrant base, traders and students whose calling requirements are primarily STD and roaming. While we have the best in class tariff for this segment of Customers on STD, these products extend best in class roaming tariffs to these Customers as well."

He added, "This obviously is not a money making proposition for us, yet we are extending this offer to differentiate ourselves from other players and create USP. I feel this is an investment in the brand for long term returns."
