Tata Motor today announced that they will increase the cost of Nano up by 4 percent.
INFLATION IS on the rise and the price of commodities is going vertical. Also coming under the ambit of price hike is the much talked about car ‘Nano’. People interested in booking the car now, which was launched with much fan fare as Peoples' car will have to shell more money in order to own the car.

Tata Motors, today, announced that it will raise the prices of its small car Nano by four percent. They will increase the rate after delivering the car to the first 100,000 customers. Tata Motor is yet to announce the date as to when the increased rate will be effective.

Tata Motors has started informing the customers, who have booked the car and are not in the bracket of first 100,000 customers.

Tata Motor said in a statement, "despite a steep increase in input prices, theirTata Nanos are being priced only three-four per cent higher, depending on the model, than the price announced at launch."

Tata Motor is forced to increase the cost as the price of essential commodities like steel, rubber has gone up.

After Nano , the Indian market is going to see more such cars. In the pipeline is Maruti Cervo by Maruti Suzuki, Bajaj together with a Japanese firm will launch a car by 2012 and Renault in collaboration with Nissan is all set roll out a new product.
Seems like Nano has a tough competition ahead.
