Through election campaigns by Chiranjeevi, the Congress is expecting to attract large number of voters from his caste i.e. Kapu voters in the coastal region of Andhra Pradesh. In this region, Kapus are in large number and in a position to tilt political balance in anybody's favor.
Ahead of 2009 elections, when Chiranjeevi started a regional party 'Praja Rajyam Party', Pavan Kalyan and his other elder brother Naga Babu, who is also film star, have actively campaigned for the party and addressed large number of public meetings all over the state.
However, after Chiranjeevi merged his party with Congress and later became union minister, both of his these younger brothers are keeping distance from him. Even during a recent release of PavanKalyan's film 'Attarintiki Vastava', none of Chiranjeevi family members were spotted there.
Reportedly senior TDP leader and former finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu extended invitation to Pavan Kalyan and his brother Naga Babu to join his party. "Pavan Kalyan and Naga Babu would be invited if they wish to join the Telugu Desam Party," he said.
Yanamala also advised them that the TDP is the right platform to serve the Telugu people and work for their development.
