Yes, Team Anna had to finally surrender to the inevitable - not just because of the failing heath of Anna, the prime mover and the dwindling support in Mumbai but because the very fabric of our society is soaked to saturation with corruption.
TEAM ANNA should have known that political leaders love to make promises, which they hardly ever honour. However, since an assurance had been given by none other than the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, who has a clean image, Team Anna must have presumed that the assurance would be kept.

But there is many a slip between the cup and the lip. The Prime Minister cannot take a decision in isolation and has to depend on the combined wisdom of his ministers to take any decision that could have far reaching consequences. And knowing how clean the images of the ministers are, as far as corruption is concerned, Team Anna should not have given them any breathing time but should have hammered the tongs while the iron was hot.
Unfortunately, the past of the key Team Anna players returned to haunt them. First it was Kiran Bedi and her travelling allowances. Then came Arvind Kejriwal and his violating the terms of bond with the Income Tax department. And finally there was Prashant Bhushan and his unpaid tax on property.
It was a dangerous game Team Anna was playing and it should have realized that fighting any administration, especially the government, requires much more weapons and ammunition rather than just words and powers of public speaking. They possess all the powers to create false cases to embarrass and tarnish the image of the opposition.
