'The people of Telangna will see either the victory procession or (my) demise procession', he said. In the time prior to the fast, the TRS would hold 1500 meetings in Mandal headquarters, seeking the cooperation of the people.
THE PRESIDENT of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS), Chandra Sekhar Rao is carrying out his final battle for a separate Telangana state. He has urged the centre to accept his demand by the third week of November, failing which he would go on a hunger strike onto death.
In order to mount up the pressure on both the centre and the state government, he went to Delhi on Monday and presented his demands to President Pratibha Patil, PM Dr Manmohan Singh, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Opposition leader LK Advani and other leaders of various parties. Before this, he had met the Andhra Pradesh Governor and Chief minister, a few days ago and submitted a memorandum seeking an early resolution.
It may be noted that the leader had gone a hunger strike previously, but it had lasted for only a few hours. When asked about the previous strike, he said that strike had not been planned but this one was.
“The people of Telangna will see either the victory procession or (my) demise procession”, he said. In the time period prior to the fast, the TRS would hold 1500 meetings in Mandal headquarters, seeking the cooperation of the people, as well as to tell them about his decision.
Meanwhile, it appears that no political party has taken Rao's decision seriously and are busy with the Greater Hyderabad Muncipal elections. The Chief minister Rosaiah has asked him to drop the proposed fast unto death, but he declined.
