Telangana parents want govt to stop private schools from hiking fee
Every parent will appreciate steps to be taken by the present Telangana Government in implementing Right to Education Act through its policy of ‘Free and Compulsory Education in English Medium with CBSE syllabus from KG to PG’. The policy will definitely give an opportunity to those parents whose wards were deprived of a good education due to lack of sufficient government schools and colleges.
The policy will definitely put a full stop to the expansion of private and corporate schools and colleges which have come up in the last decade in a big way. By announcing the policy the government has now a tough task of identifying location and land, providing requisite infrastructure and amenities as well as appointment of skilled teachers, lecturers and professors in those existing and new schools and colleges to come up across Telangana State.

Every parent do expect that, the elected MLAs, MLCs and MPs from Telangana without any hesitation will allocate sufficient funds from their LAD for infrastructure and other amenities for the existing and new schools and colleges in their respective constituencies.

Further, for the academic year 2014-15 several private and corporate schools in and around Hyderabad have increased fee between 30 to 50 per cent. With lack of an official framework to regulate fee hike or legislation to check the continuous and 'irrational' hike in fee, it has become a ritual for most of the private or corporate schools to hike fees arbitrarily.

There is no opposition whenever the fee is increased by10 per cent per annum, no guidelines for finalizing school fee, managements do not involve parents in decision making and all government official orders are only on paper.

At least now when the RTE act is going to be implemented, the present Government should come with a comprehensive legislation or an ordinance to regulate school fee in private schools. This what every parent expect. One hopes that, the present Telangana Government will act immediately on the issue.
