Tender aged kids raising funds for rebuilding Kerala
This year's monsoon deluge has arrived as a curse for a state referred to as "God's Own Country" for its panoramic view and abundance of nature's blessings.

The nature's fury in the form of flood has been described as the worst of the century in Kerala. According to reports emanating from ground zero, more than 500 people have lost their lives and at least 220,000 are staying in shelter homes, while more than 50,000 homes have been turned into a heap of rubble. Relief and rescue operations are underway on war footing.

Fund raising campaign

Entire nation is in shock, people from across India are extending their solidarity with the victims. Campaigns are underway to raise funds, edibles and clothes to name a few to enable victim rebuild their life though the stains left will take years to bury. Celebrities, sportsmen, business houses, academics and media among others are coming forward to play their bit in bringing smile on the faces of victims desperately in need of support in the hour of crisis.

Kids for a cause

While on a morning workout, a team of kids selling edibles at the popular Prahalad Garden in Ahmadabad engrossed my attention. A small banner in the backdrop demonstrated their identity – "Kids For A Cause," said everything. I couldn't control my eagerness to know a bit more about them.

"In the year 2014, while sipping a cup of tea with my friends, this idea nurtured in mind. Objective was to inculcate ethos in kids, at the same time, encourage them to play their role in social transformation," remarked Naomi Mistry, one of the mentors and founders.

Contribution for Kerala flood

This innovative campaign is currently raising funds for Kerala flood victims. Selling soup, idli, fruit salad, the team comprising of Taasha, Aanya, Anoushika, Janmejay, Preet, Amaira, Aaryan and Mitansh is planning to contribute Rs 10,000 in the rehabilitation of flood ravaged Kerala.

When asked, how do you feel, Aaryan said, "It feels good to give something back to society. In the past, we ran similar campaign for Kashmir and Chennai natural calamity."

Hats off to the team, mentors for a thought provoking fund raising for altruism! Whatever may be your contribution, however small it could be, it could be a game-changer for the hundreds of flood victims! Bear in mind, to stitch a torn shirt, to put it on once again, you need a small needle, costing Rs. 1 and a thread, costing Rs 5. Even one rupee matters! Let's together rebuild collapsed Kerala, enabling our brothers and sisters in Kerala to make a new beginning!
