Police has also arrested about 20 people and also announced a reward for the leader of the farmers' stir in Greater Noida. Police claimed that the leader of the stir is a criminal and he is misguiding the youth and the farmers of the area.
TENSION PREVAILS in Great Noida as another farmer succumbed to his injuries on Sunday in the ongoing farmers’ stir going on in the area, thus taking the death toll to 4.
Yesterday, three persons including two cops and a farmer had lost their lives, when clashes between farmers, who are protesting against land acquisition and police took place.
Officials said that twelve companies of Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) have been deployed in the area to control the situation and additional reinforcements have been called in from neighbouring districts.
However, the farmers are not convinced by the police theory and they accuse the cops of forcing the people to resort to violence as the administration is not ready to listen to their problems.
On Saturday, violence had erupted in Bhatta Parsaul village after negotiations between the villagers and district administration failed to effect the release of three government officials, who had been held captive by the farmers.
Two jawans from the Provincial Armed Constabulary and a farmer was killed in the firing, which took place between the two sides. Several people from both sides were also injured in the clashes including senior district officials.
Meanwhile, the farmers agitation has spread in more districts with villages spanning Greater Noida, Aligarh and Agra joining the fray.
