Thalfavang kut: Celebrating the true spirit of Mizoram
Festivals of Mizoram are full of joy and happiness and are a great insight to the rich cultural heritage of the Mizos. The festivals are celebrated with full energy and traditional dances which form a major part of the celebrations. People really wait to celebrate their culture and traditions. Since agriculture plays an important role in the lives of people, almost all festivals of Mizoram are based on agriculture.

One of the most awaited festivals in Mizoram is 'Thalfavang Kut', which is held every year in the month of November. 'Thalfavang Kut' is Mizoram's festival which is regularly held in Hmuifan- a tourist resort. It is organised by the tourism department of Mizoram to promote tourism. It is basically celebrated after the completion of sowing season and starting of the  preparation for the forthcoming harvesting season.

Almost all tribal groups in Mizoram celebrate this festival with full enthusiasm, in which they wear vibrant clothes to add to festive spirit. It also includes number of dance performances and local songs which are sung by the farmers while they dance. This festival  also depicts the cultural heritage and the traditional games of the Mizoram.

'Thalfavang Kut' provides an opportunity to the tribal people who reside in the remote corners of Mizoram to interact with each other and give them a chance to showcase their hidden culture traits.

The main objective of celebrating this festival is to draw tourists from within and outside the State and to promote Mizo tourism across the country.
