THANKSGIVING DAY is a festival meant to celebrate the harvest and it is a time to thank god for the harvest and express gratitude. Thanksgiving day is celebrated in UnitedState and Canada and though the festival has a religious origin but now it is celebrated across the country by people cutting religious and race lines.
Thanksgiving is celebrated on fourth Thursday of November in the United States and in Canada it is celebrated on the second Monday of October. It became a federal holiday in 1941 in United States.
The First Thanksgiving was given to express gratitude to god for saving the pilgrims from harsh winter. Thanks giving meals include baked or roasted turkey and is a featured item on any Thanksgiving feast table. Mashed potatoes, stuffings, sweet potatoes, pumpkin pie, cranberry sauce are the traditional Thanksgiving food items.
