The Arthur Ashe stadium and why it makes the US Open so special
The Arthur Ashe stadium, which opened in 1997, has been one of the best Tennis stadiums of the world, where players love to come and perform. It houses around 22,000 seats inside the stadium. It also provides excellent facilities to players.

THE US Open is one of the four Grand Slam championships that takes place in a year. It has always been one of the most awaited grand slams of the year, as it is the last grand slam in a calendar year. It is the last opportunity for players who have not won a grand slam title, and this is one of the reasons why players battle it out in the Arthur Ashe stadium, which is one of the largest outdoor tennis venues in the world.

It was only after 1997 that the US Open started being organized at the Arthur Ashe Stadium. Prior to this stadium, it was the Louis Armstrong stadium, which hosted the US Open, where many great players of the past have great memories. Players around the world love to come in the Arthur Ashe Stadium, which houses a number of facilities, such as restaurants, lounges, and luxury suites. Players love these extra facilities that are provided to them. Who does not? It's a great place for people to come over and see their favourite players perform. Once the stadium the Arthur Ashe stadium is full, it is an amazing sight. The crowd at the US Open are known for their audience support, which can sometimes get too vocal.

The stadium, which is said to have cost around USD 254 million has a hard surface, which is blue in colour. When the player hits the ball on this surface it travels at great speed making it an awesome game to watch for viewers. Players who are technically powerful make the most out of the surface, as power alone does not help you score points, you also need deft touches.

There have many instances when people talked about the need of a roof in the stadium, as it does not have any retractable roof. Things look promising now, as there is talk suggesting that the US Open shall soon have a roof. This could be a good decision as sometimes the winds are very strong and also take a toll on a player. After the Wimbledon and the Australian Open stadiums, it could be US Open, which will have a roof of its own. These are all signs of positive development.

After the US Open shifted to Arthur Ashe stadium, Roger Federer has been the best player, which the US Open hard courts have seen, as he has won the title 5 times. So will this be his sixth title at Arthur Ashe stadium in 2012? Irrespective of the winner, it is rest assured that the players would enjoy their time in the US Open, and one of the main reasons has to be the stadium, which is one of the best in the world.
