The best and worst Super bowl 2010 ads
The best commercials during this year's Super Bowl game were the Betty White Sneakers commercial, the Google Paris romance, Denny's scared chickens, Kia Sorento toy advertisement and the low budget Doritos advertisements.

THE COMMERCIALS that were aired during the Super Bowl game 2010, which took place on Sunday between the New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts, was more about what a stereotypical football fan would like. So, while Tim Tebow's pro life commercial with his mother stood out, the rest barring a few, didn't particularly.

50 Super Bowl commercials were aired by CBS during the Super Bowl game.

The Best Super Bowl 2010 commercials were:

1. Snickers Betty White advertisement

Starring former Golden Girls star Betty White, this advertisement was basically built around the premise that a hungry player would end up on the field as an old lady. It illustrated this by having Betty White knocked down repeatedly to the ground by other footballers before she wolfs down a Snickers.

2. Google Paris Romance advertisement

Trying to show how a romance in Paris is supported by Google search, this gem of an advertisement is quite simple and effective. Accompanied by a simple piano playing the "life sounds" soundtrack, it shows a courtship beginning with a user searching study options in Patis, cafes near the Lourve, ways to impress a french girl and then, looking at long distance relationship advice and jobs in Paris.

There is a happy end to it too. The next Google Search is about Churches in Paris.

What works about this Google ad is the warm appeal it makes, without explicitly talking about itself.

3. Denny's scared chickens advertisement

The commercial is a true horror gem, at least for the chickens who star in it and who may watch it! The advertisement showcases how would chickens feel about Denny's free grand slam breakfast promotions. The reactions truly reach a high with the silent scream, uttered by a chicken in outer space.

4. Kia Sorento Toy “Hangover” advertisement

Four toys, including a sock monkey take out a Kia Sorento for a wild night - going through a lot of nightclubbing, visits to hot tubs and even a tattoo parlor. Though the twist in the morning is a bit expected, the ad scores for the simple use of the toys in a commercial of a product, that is typically not associated with toys.

5. Doritos advertisements

These ads were quite an inventive take and captured the audience from the get go, with Martians informing that no humans were harmed in the filming of the ads. The Snack Attack Samurai advertisement had people guffawing, with a chip used as a Chinese throwing star.

Then, there was the Underdog ad, which was a take on what would happen when a dog decides to turn on his owner.

On the other hand, the worst Super Bowl commercials were:

1. Taco Bell ad with Charles Barkley

This advertisement suffers from the worst folly - a user is left asking what's the point. Though it must have seemed as a good idea as a draft to put former basketball star Charles Barkley here, mumbling lines about the five buck box, it didn't impress much as an ad in the Super Bowl game.

2. GoDaddy.com advertisements

There were two advertisements about the site in this year's Super Bowl - on with a masseuse opening up her shirt and the next with a female reporter doing the same. Its tougher to figure out the whats and whys about it and few would go back and check GoDaddy.com for the answers.

3. Simpsons ad for Coca Cola

Mr Burns, the diabolical boss in Simpsons, finds happiness in a bottle of Coco Cola? Sounds too over the top and it was, with the biggest factor against it being putting the worst character choice in the role.

4. Kiss for Cherry Dr Pepper ad

Though visualing the message is the most important thing for an advertisement, this commercial which aired during the Super Bowl goes completely out and gets it horribly wrong. Its one thing to say that a soft drink has a kiss of cherry flavor. Its quite another having little people dressed as the Kiss band, rocking alongside the true Kiss band.

5. The Census advertisement

Was that truly an ad on the Census? Why the funny character actos? Why an unfinished ad? Probably, the answers would be there by the next Super Bowl, if not the Census.
