The BJP gives four seats to its alliance partners in Assam
The BJP has, reportedly, decided to contest in 10 seats out of total 14 in Assam in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Assam.

It has given four seats to its alliance partners, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and the BPF.  The BPF would contest in the Kokarajhar constituency and the AGP would field its candidates in Dhubri, Barpeta and Koliabor.

In the meanwhile, the BPF has announced state minister Pramila Rani Brahma as its candidate for the Kokrajhar constituency. The AGP is yet to finalise its candidates. On the other hand, the BJP has, on Friday sent a list of 25 candidates to its national president Amit Shah. As per the list Shah would announce names of the candidates on March 16, sources have revealed.

Sources said that influential minister Himanta Biswa Sarma would contest from the Tezpur constituency. The names of all the BJP MPs of the state except Ram Prasad Sharma find place in the party's list. The Lok Sabha elections in Assam will be held in three phases on April 11 to April 23. In the 2014 general election, the BJP won seven seats in the state. That time it had contested all the seats.

It is to be noted that the AGP returned to the BJP-led alliance of late after a break of two months. The regional outfit severed its ties with the BJP over the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 in January this year.
