The bloodshed of caste
The recent attacks on Dalits in Laximpet in Andhra Pradesh had provoked the Balit bahujan revolutionary spirits. In rural India the presence of caste discrimination has to be focused upon and let the mindset of the upper castes be changed.

PEOPLE KILL people in the name of war. People kill people in the name of Holy war. Here, in India, people kill people in the name of caste. It is not killing each other. But, one caste attacks the other unarmed caste people. Who gave the right to kill and who had the right to kill people?

People express fervant patriotism on August 15th and January 26th raising slogans of Jai Bharath and there is mutual exchange of Independence Day wishes. How far is the country independent and how far the people of the country are enjoying the liberty the country gave to them? Or are these two words (both Independence and Republic) only meant demographically and have had got nothing to do with the life of the people in the country.

After winning the long battle for justice in the Tsundur and Karamchedu incidents. Dalits have gained more strength in creating a common platform for Dalit Bahujans. But their strength doesn’t prove to be a ‘staunch breaker’ of the hegemony of the upper castes. Contrary to this, the recent Laximpet killings of Dalits by Kapus of the village had come to limelight - in which 6 Dalits were lethally stripped and beaten to death and many others were severely injured.

What crime have the dalits committed in the country? Don’t they have the right to live and should they live on the mercy of the upper caste people? How legitimate is it to kill Dalits and then compensate their kith and kin? The media overlook this issue as a clash between two groups - thus hiding the attack on Dalits by the upper castes of Laximpeta, which resembled the attacks in Tsundur and Karamchedu.

It is in this country where Dalits are being ill-treated continuously. The regular insults, indignities, inhuman treatment and atrocities mock the Dalits intellectuality day by day. The recent killings have added fuel to the fire of Dalith revolutionary spirits.

The consciousness of caste discrimination is still in existence in India which can be clearly visible and audible. Many people easily deny this statement just like the former Prime Minister Mr Jawaharlal Nehru. India. All that looks like nationalism is an illusion and a true nation can be seen only when there exists an exit door for this caste discrimination.

What kind of a country is this where a gang of people, united and armed with sickles and axes, attack and kill unarmed Dalit civilians just for the reason of being born into a lower caste and then ask for the right to land and property ?

To all those upper castes people who think that there exists no caste discrimination has to definitely pay a visit to Laximpeta, Tsundoor, and Karamchedu. Many people who blindly strike off the statement of “caste discrimination” are living a life of luxury. The air conditioned sanctums of the richest cities have no idea about caste discrimination. In India, we not only see the economically deprived people but to the gullible deeds of the early Brahmins there also exists socially disadvantaged people on the basis of caste.
