The Enchanting Verses Literary Review: A story of magazine's past and present
'Poetry is a spontaneous overflow of powerful feeling, where emotions recollect in tranquility." The above lines have been said by Wordsworth, the famous nature poet who belonged to an age when it was a golden period of poetry.
As of now with the growth of novel as the most powerful and popular genre, we see that poetry is slowly and slowly perishing but there are poetry lovers around the world and many such activities are indeed being carried out but it is not as much as required. But with the growth of electronic media, now we see many new ventures are being carried out for the revival of poetry.

There are many people who are undertaking this opportunity and Sonnet Mondal is one such name. He is not only a famous international poet but also Editor-in-Chief of the magazine- The Enchanting Verses Literary Review. The magazine, 'The Enchanting Verses Literary Review' which was started in 2007 by Sonnet Mondal has made its place amidst the best Indian poetry journals like, 'Indian Literature', 'Muse India', 'Indian Ruminations' and 'The Journal of Poetry Society of India.'

Sonnet Mondal has acquired international recognition as a poet and to him goes the credit of associating many international poets and authors with the magazine like Jovica Tasevski Eternijan & Mateya Matevski of Macedonia, Bulgarian poet; Peycho Kanev, best selling US author Prof Melissa Studdard & another famous American poet, Helene Cardona.

Some other distinguished poets and contributors which are associated with the magazine are: Martha Collins, Nathalie Handal, Donald Ravell, Sidney Wade, Miguel Barnet, Jayanta Mahapatra, Kishwar Naheed, Bertha Rogers, Charles Harper Webb, Diana Blakely, Perie Longo, Sayed Gouda, Sllave Gjorgjo Dimoski, K. Satchidanandan, Malay Roychowdhury, Rita Dahl, Risto Vasilevski, B. R. Dionysius, Vladimir Martinovski, Amy King, Todor Chalovski, Doug Anderson and many others.

The magazine became very famous in the year 2010. In the same year, it honoured International Macedonian Poet, Jovica Tasevski Eternijan as The Enchanting Poet. He also joined the The Enchanting Verses Literary Review editorial staff when the magazine collaborated with the oldest surviving print magazine of Macedonia- Stremez Literary Magazine which is one of the oldest surviving magazines in the Republic of Macedonia (first issue was published in 1954).

From then onwards Jovica is associated with the magazine and has been a reason of the cultural exchange between India and Macedonia. Not only Jovica but the magazine has honoured many other international poets also. In its 13th issue published in June 2011, The Enchanting Verses presented the Enchanting poet honour to Mateja Matevski who went to win the famous Golden Wreath award from the Struga Poetry Evenings later that year.

The magazine started the policy of editing by guest editors for each issue since November 2011. First guest editor was Prof Sukrita Paul Kumar and there are several other eminent poets and scholars in its editorial board like Helene Cardona, Bulgarian poet Peycho Kanev and U. S. Author Prof Melissa Studdard.

The magazine has done phenomenal work by translating foreign poetry of renowned poets into English with special emphasis on Macedonian, French and Italian. The translation issues are mainly edited by like Dr Ute Margaret Saine who is also one of the editors of the renowned journal, California Poetry Quarterly.

From the year 2012, the magazine successfully started its print version which was very well appreciated. Since then it has been consistent in publishing online as well as print issues.

Helena Cardona, an American poet and actress is the editor of the current issue of the magazine. She has taken enough pain in the selection of quality work which includes poetry, essays and book reviews. The Enchanting Verses Literary Review has largely contributed in encouraging many new poets, promoting inter country cultural exchange and presenting quality works in front of poetry lovers.
