It was the 100th test match at the Sydney Cricket Ground and expectations were high that Sachin Tendulkar would score his 100th century here but it was Peter Siddle who scalped his 100th victim Umesh Yadav at the SCG.
SAD TO say that the Indian cricket team, once fondly known as ‘Men in Blue’ are putting up a flop show in Australia – this series had been touted as a battle between equals, but it is turning out to be a totally one-sided affair with India on the losing side.

Scores of 0, 3 and 2 of the batting stalwarts like Gautam Gambhir, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman speak of their miserable performances. And – added to that is the continuous failure of master blaster Sachin Tendulkar to reach the coveted milestone of the century of centuries.
It may be recalled that Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Rahul Dravid and four other newcomers had arrived in Australia one week ahead of others in order to get acquainted with the climate and settle down to settle scores with the Aussies.
Alas – this series is turning out to be an exercise in one disappointment after another.
The message is clear – while the juniors must learn to be patient, the seniors need to introspect and take a decision on whether to remain as a burden on the team or opt out, honourably.
