The ICC Awards 2009 announced
The ICC Awards 2009 has been announced at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg. MS Dhoni won the ICC ODI Player of the year, whereas Gambhir was declared the ICC test player of the year.
The sixth LG ICC Awards 2009 took place at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg. The ICC Spirit of Cricket award was won by New Zealand and Australia;s Peter Siddle won the Emerging player award for the year 2009.
Sri Lanka’s swashbuckling batsman Tilakaratne won the Twenty20 International Performer award of the year. William Porterfield won the Associate and Affiliate Player of the year award. Pakistan’s Aleem Dar, won the Umpire of the year award. The women’s cricketer of the year award was bagged by Claire Taylor.
The awards were based on the performance of the team and its players for the period between August 13, 2008 to August 24, 2008 which included events like the ICC World Twenty20 2009 in England, the ICC Women’s world cup 2009 in Australia, the ICC cricket world cup qualifier 2009 in South Africa and many other bilateral test and ODI series..
Former West Indies captain Clive Lloyd headed the five member selection panel for the nominations. The panel included former cricketers like India’s Anil Kumble, Pakistan’s Mudassar Nazar, England’s bob Taylor and New Zealand’s Stephen Fleming.
The previous ICC Awards were held in London in 2004, Sydney in 2005, Mumbai in 2006, Johannesburg in 2007 and Dubai in 2008.

.how dare? Tilkeretney dilshan nominated for t2o world cup series which was very cheap decission. Afridi had to be announced for that. And now t20 player dilshan. This is totally flirt. ICC is not doing well
